GROTON, MA–With over 200 contestants participating in this year’s SwaRaag Bollywood Competition finals on Saturday, this may be the largest such competition in the area. The organizers have also some new categories this year.
“SwaRaag boasts entries this year from New York, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, in addition to our tri-state area,” said Swathi Subramanian, founder and president of SwaRaag. “This may be the largest number of participation seen, and with new categories introduced each year SwaRaag seems to be re-energizing the competitive spirit in the community.”
The final competition will be held this Saturday, Nov . 21, at the Dunstable Performing Arts Center, which is located at 344 Main Street in Groton, MA.
As part of its presentation, SwaRaag will feature poet and screenwriter Sunayana Kachnoo, who is writer and creative director of films “Pashmina” and “Illegal” whose film dialogues have reached Cannes film festival. She will also be presiding over the new Song Lyrics Competitive Category. Also featured
as part of show will be captivating choreographer Jai Kishan’s group dance Dhamaka.
Besides the traditional Solo Dance, Solo Song and Group Dance categories, SwaRaag has introduced the Duo Dance and Spot Choreography in the past two years, both which have been well-received. This year, SwaRaag has chosen to stretch into the Poetic arena offering a Song Lyrics Competitive category as well.
Subramanian said that those looking for a packed evening of glitz and entertainment in music and dance should not miss the SwaRaag Bollywood Competition event this Saturday.
